This ski season has been less than supurlative. The local area are up and running with close to 100% of their mountains open. Considering the mild temperatures the areas are doing a great job in making snow and getting the conditions as good as they are. The western ski areas are in a similar situation, obviously they have more snow, but not what is normal...to temp skiers out to the western resorts they have reduced lodging...airfare..lift tickets and even food in restaurants. Snowbird Utah has a ski/stay deal, $99.00 per day . lodging and lift...Round trip airfit to Denver $225.00. Special airfare to Jackson Hole. The best skiing seems to be Blackcomb/Whistler...customers have come back stating how much snow they have.

Every year we take a group of ski testers to Stratton Mountain in Vermont. We have all abilities of skier, from very aggressive to mellow and tame. We get to try all the skis for the coming fall. We compare the skis by price, edge hold, stability, and ease in turning. Our test team was from all over the tri state area, we had Julian testing snowboards and the rest of the guys testing skis. Last season we had purfect conditions...tons of snow and no ice at all. This season was not as good, lots of ice and thin cover. We had a great time in tyhe three days of testing. You are also able to try boots, both snowboard and ski as well as all the ski and snowboard models. We use this demo as a bench mark for our product selecdtion for the 2012-2013 season.

Stripers blitzing the beach this fall was the norm instead of the exception. The migration produced great fishing off the beach and produces a number of big fish. The Spring...April, should see a similar Northern migration. Get ready for the news and be prepared for the excitement.

The ski season was lack luster to say the least. Those who were willing to go to the snow had a great season. The local areas made snow, and even though mother nature did not cooperate skiing was not too bad. Here the Hillis family took advantage of the late season snow and had a wonderful time in Montana...rates were down and costs were much better than normal. Look in to booking for next season now, the areas are hungry and if you are willing to gamble on not having a season like this one bargans are to be had.
